Health Protection Service: Service Charter What does the Service offer? We carry out inspections, investigations, provide training, advice, information and enforce the law in relation to: Hygiene and safety in food premises and food purchases Health and safety at work in offices, shops, warehouses and leisure activities Infectious diseases and food poisoning control Licences premises What can you expect from the Service? How can you help? Provide us with your name and telephone number so we can report back to you. Keep appointments made and arrange safe access. Allow the officer access to business premises at all reasonable times. Co-operate with and treat the officer dealing with your problem in a proper manner. The City Council treats any incident of abuse, threats or assault on its employees very seriously and we will always consider taking action against perpetrators whenever this occurs. Action may include withdrawal of service and legal remedies. Our Performance Targets We measure our performance against: the number of high-risk Food Safety inspections we carry out each year the number of Health and Safety inspections we carry out each year the number of Service Requests we respond to within 5 working days the number of Written Reports we provide within 14 working days following inspections of businesses.
