After initial military training, trainee Dental Nurses study care and management of patients (including anatomy, physiology and surgery skills), cross infection control, preparation of dental materials, dental diseases and their prevention. They also process dental X rays, dentition, tooth structure and undertake dental administrative procedures. They are trained to run a dental centre similar to those found in the civilian world. Individuals learn how to work under pressure as they can join mobile medical units which deploy on operations around the world.
