NB Centres need to ensure that their internal QA systems are fully met
Assignment Title
Date Issued
Unit Number and Title – a single assignment may cover part of a unit or several units
Credit Value – non-essential
GLH – non-essential
Assignment Leader Name – assignments should have an indicative leader as a point of
reference for students, and the teaching team should also be included
Assignment Internally Verified (by and date) – the IV will ensure that the assignment gives
students sufficient opportunity to meet the assessment criteria of the unit or units being
covered.
Length of Assignment – non-essential if the information is contained within the scheme of
work
Formative or Interim assessment date
Assessment or Hand in Date – can include assessment methods e.g. written assignment,
portfolio, presentation
Learning Outcomes – assignment design should ensure that the learning outcomes can be
achieved
Description of Project / Brief – context
Timetable / Scheme of Work - to include key dates in support of assignment: Visits /
Presentations / Crits / Hand-ins / Tutorials / Self Directed Study etc
Reading List – Harvard referenced
Recommended Research Sources – primary and secondary
Assessment Criteria with Indicative Evidence – ideally this should be at the end of the
assignment brief to ensure the emphasis is on the learning, UAL Awarding Body
acknowledge that this may not be compatible with some centre internal QA procedures.

Assignment Title
Unit Number and Title
Student Name – in large cohorts or pathways group to be included
Assessor Name – any additional assessors names to be included
Assessment Date
Assessment Criteria
Evidence – the evidence that the student has produced to meet the criteria and where it can
be found eg sketchbook
Indication of Performance – in a formative assessment students will find it helpful to know
at what level they are currently working good / satisfactory or excellent. In a summative
assessment the grading criteria would be used.
An assessment sheet should clearly show a referred student what criteria they have failed to
meet and an additional sheet should be given to them setting out the evidence they need to
produce to meet the criteria with a date and time to produce the required work
Comments – a feedback section should be included to ensure students are given sufficient
feedback to understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
Signature of 1st Assessor – in the case of a team assessment or 2nd assessor / blind marking
this can be added
Signature of Internal Verifier – if applicable
Signature of Student – at the point of feedback being received and the assessment decision
being understood and agreed
