Kevin Harris, MD FRCP is Acting Medical Director and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. He is also a Reader in the Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation at the University of Leicester. He was an undergraduate at Cambridge from 1975 and graduated in Medicine from Kings College Hospital School of Medicine in 1981. After obtaining MRCP he undertook a fellowship in Nephrology at Washington University St Louis, before returning to the UK to take up an NKRF Senior Clinical Fellowship and Honorary Lectureship appointment in Leicester. He has been a Consultant since 1993. He is Clinical Vice President of the Renal Association. His research interests include the pathophysiology of progressive renal failure. He has also conducted trials examining therapeutic interventions to delay progressive renal failure and improve cardiovascular outcome in renal patients. He is currently a coinvestigator on a major national project (funded by the Health Foundation) to look at methods to improve the care and outcomes of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.
