DRAFT MINUTES
Wednesday 14th January 2015
8pm – Eastcourt Rd

Matters Arising:

Treasurer’s Report – please see attached spreadsheet
£2650 in current account + £158 from blue bags & £219 from Xmas cards still to come
£1000 in savings
A discussion about possible expenditure followed. Ideas included the following. Staff to review and cost priorities – list
to come to next PTA meeting for discussion/decision:
 Picnic benches for summer lunches outside?
 Astro turf – possibly too expensive
 More iPads
 Theatre trip – not necessarily panto? Maybe Newbury Watermill for a play?
School requests from Mrs Coupe
 PA system
 Easter eggs - hunt to be organised by school
 Funding towards ongoing Outdoor Growing area
 £300 for PGL each year
Christmas Fair - overall profit £964
All went really well, seemed to be enjoyed by all
Grotto -can we make it cheaper as costs to put on plus buy the gifts, not sure if this is possible? (Mrs Coupe has
agreed that staff can help to set up the grotto as long as it’s not in school time for next year).
Seating area worked really well, nice to have somewhere for people to relax & enjoy their refreshments plus if we
could have the choir sing next year that would add to the atmosphere.
Tombola – need to mix the miscellaneous items in with the bottles & chocolates as they were last to go.
Lucky Dip was a last minute idea but did really well, let’s make sure we run it again, perhaps ask parents for random
bits through the year eg spare party bags fillers etc
Year 5/6 stalls and reindeer very successful.
Without exception all staff were there – thank you!
Christmas Shopping Trip – Dec 2015
Not fundraiser, social event – more discussion needed
Boden Fundraiser Sale – 2nd & 3rd Feb
Clothes arrive Mon PM 2/1 – evening sale 7-8.30pm with fizz & canapés
Tues 2-4.30pm sale with children’s fashion show at 3.30pm – CR to ask Mrs Coupe if event can use the stage.
Aware we have to keep hall clear Tues lunchtime & CR ask Mr Lucas (piano) about timings.
Mannequins & mirrors needed – changing room in the hall cupboard.

Table Top Sale – suggested date: Sat 25/4 3-5pm – CR check with school re access to school building in event
of rain, toilets etc
Tables primarily available to school families but open to village if some available. Would like it to be a social event as
well so BBQ & bar available (JG will apply for licence)
Summer Fair – Sat 4/7/15
Date agreed with school.

Charity Fundraising – agree with school – not PTA’s remit, happy to support where necessary
Summer Camp Out – more discussion needed with Mrs Coupe – to go to next meeting
Mothers’ Day – not a ‘shop’ like last year, little profit for a lot of effort. Would be nice to run a couple of craft
sessions instead (maybe lunchtime in the library) in school in the preceding week – w/e 13/3? CR discuss
with staff re dates/times. Need ideas!
Year 6 leavers’ presents – CR to check whether school do this or would it be nice for PTA to do something?
Cake (or Lolly) Sale – 27/3 or later in the summer?
School Disco instead of school ball this year (adults not children) – 13/6 suggested date – venue tbc - Buffet
& DJ – tickets c.£15 if we can cover costs?
