Speech: a capability newly developed in humans?

There are two main views on the origin of human language. The first states that it derives
from animal's vocal calls, the second searches its origins in gestures. In my talk I will present
some evidence in favor of this second view, originating from monkey electrophysiological
studies and from human TMS and brain imaging data.
