VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION Community Champion Volunteer Location: Representing Kidney Research UK in your local community Reporting to: Regional Fundraising Manager Suggested involvement: Flexible to fit around events and activities Main Purpose of the Role: To reach new areas and make more people aware of the work of Kidney Research UK, representing the Charity at a local level. Main Tasks: Raise awareness of Kidney Research UK in your local community Leaflet drop your local area and display posters for fundraising opportunities Promote Kidney Research UK campaigns Give talks and presentations on our work to local Schools, Community Groups and Businesses Fundraising Be a contact point for other local Kidney Research UK volunteers General: To operate within all relevant policies and guidelines, including health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and financial procedures and regulations. Person Specification: Essential Excellent communication skills – written and verbal Strong organisational, multi-tasking and administration skills Presentation skills, with an ability to reach a wide audience Knowledge of your local community Willingness to explore your local community for more opportunities to promote the work of Kidney Research UK Responsible and reliable Professional manner WKD 2013 Develop Vol Desc Nov 2012 Desirable Knowledge of charity or corporate fundraising Additional Information: Location of activity: This volunteer will be based in their local community, but may occasionally attend the charity’s Peterborough office, which is a fully accessible building. Initial Commitment: We would like the volunteer to be involved for a minimum of four months. Selection Procedure: All individuals will be invited to participate in a selection meeting to discuss further their skills, interests and experience. Induction and Training: The volunteer will be required to undertake training relating to the role and this would be discussed with the individual’s line manager. Information will also be provided detailing further information about Kidney Research UK helping familiarise them with the work of the charity. Support and Supervision: The volunteer will be fully supervised and supported by their line manager in all their activities, and will be asked to attend regular support meetings.
