INVITATION
It gives us great pleasure to officially invite you to our annual PSI Careers Event, to be held at the
University of Sheffield. As well as MSc students, we would also like to welcome final year BSc and
PhD students with an interest in pharmaceutical statistics and statistical programming.
The half-day event will include a series of themed presentations, a workshop, and the opportunity
to visit individual company stands We are also inviting universities to advertise their statistics MSc
or PhD courses so that you can be fully informed about the career paths open to you.
Refreshments and a light buffet lunch will also be provided.
This event is intended to take the place of some of the individual company careers talks at the
request of various universities. Please note that this is not a recruitment fair and therefore not all
companies will be advertising vacancies for MSc/PhD graduates at this time.
This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the pharmaceutical industry and to talk to
people from different companies about their personal experiences. We look forward to seeing you
there!
PSI Careers and Academic Liaison Committee (CALC)
ATTENDEES
This event is open to all students currently doing a statistics-related MSc or PhD. Final year BSc
students studying a statistics-related course are also welcome (although places may be limited
depending on demand).
Last year we had 15 companies/organisations most of which are global companies with offices in
the UK and other parts of the world. These included a mix of pharmaceutical companies and CROs
(Adelphi Values, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Eli Lilly, GSK, PAREXEL, Phastar,
PhUSE, PPD, PRA, PSI, Quanticate, Roche, and Veramed) and approximately 90 BSc, MSc and PhD
students from 12 universities. In addition, representatives from 5 universities (Lancaster, Leicester,
LSHTM, Reading and Sheffield) joined to advertise the various course options open to students.
We hope to increase numbers again this year and hope to see you there!
FUNDING
The event will be free for students to attend, with PSI CALC subsidising travel for attendees from
outside of the Sheffield area. A light buffet lunch and refreshments will also be provided. Although
we can’t guarantee reimbursement of all travel expenses, we will aim to reimburse as much as
possible. Note that this includes travel by car or train, and does not include any accommodation
requirements. Students are encouraged to keep costs to a minimum by car sharing or booking
train tickets well in advance.
EVENT REGISTRATION
If you’re interested in attending this event please inform your university coordinator who will
complete the attached booking form. These should be returned to Jen Pulley using the contact
details shown on the form. Please ensure the forms are received no later than Wednesday
14th January 2015.
