FUNDAMENTAL BELIEFS – STUDY GUIDE
They real exam has equal number of questions and choices and, as far as I know, each question
has only one correct answer, and each answer can be used only once.
STUDY TIPS
 Learn the material by any means necessary. Look for patterns, create rhymes, and make jokes
about the concepts and names— whatever works best for you.
For example: Revelation is the book with a lot of ‘sevens’—seven churches, seven seals,
seven trumpets, and seven last plagues. I put some of them in alphabetical order and
told myself to look for the seven last plagues LAST.
Seven:
Revelation:
Churches
2, 3
Seals
6, 7
Trumpets
8, 9
LAST Plagues
15 (and 16)
 Read the book Seventh-day Adventists Believe… (or skim it well).
o
Chapter 19 (The Sabbath) has many interesting facts that could easily appear on
the test, especially names and dates of pertinent Romans.
o
Pay attention to the chart on page 347 or thereabouts (if your edition is different
from mine)—at the end of Chapter 24.
o
Know the diagram on the second page of Chapter 26.
 Become very familiar with the texts associated with each fundamental belief.
 Know the Ten Commandments by its other name: the Decalogue. Also know where they
are found (Exodus 20).
 Know that the Fundamental Beliefs are grouped into six (6) major doctrines (see separate
handout or study the Table of Contents). Know what each doctrine deals with. For example,
the Doctrine of God covers: the Word of God, the Godhead, God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit (five separate chapters).
