THE LOST ROOM SHOW SYNOPSES In the 1960s, there still were hundreds of motels with thousands of rooms along Route 66 as it twisted its way from Chicago to L.A. and back. None of them stood out from the rest until one day when some unknown event at the Sunshine Motel transformed ordinary things into items of wonder. Room 10 of the Sunshine Motel and many of its mundane contents — a pair of scissors, a comb and so on — gained unique and inexplicable properties on that day, transforming them from ordinary objects into indestructible Objects. The Scissors can turn and rotate any item in three dimensions. The Comb stops time for 10 seconds when you run it through your hair. The Eyeglasses inhibit all combustion in a 20-foot radius. The Room itself is an unchanging haven and a portal to any destination. But it can also take that which you value more than your own life. To possess an Object is to possess its power. Using each Object exacts a physical, emotional or psychological cost from the owner. Just holding one makes you a target for murder. For decades, maybe since the first moment that the Motel Room was ripped from this reality, cabals have formed to collect all the Objects. As always, some just want unlimited power, and they believe getting all of the Objects will give them that. Others want to prevent anyone from ever again using the Objects. And though their motives vary, the cabals' tactics are similar. It's said that while you have one of the Objects, you have no friends, only people waiting for an opening. Police Det. Joe Miller was introduced to the Motel Room when a fatally shot young man gave him one of the most powerful and coveted Objects of them all: the Key to the Motel Room. His life is immediately turned upside down when his young daughter becomes lost in the room. In his relentless quest to rescue his little girl, Joe becomes the target of shadowy figures who will stop at nothing to take from him his only hope of saving her — the Key. THE LOST ROOM SHOW SYNOPSES NIGHT ONE "The Key and The Clock" Det. Joe Miller (Peter Krause) and his partner Det. Lou Destafano (Christopher Bauer) are called upon to investigate the most bizarre crime scene either has ever seen — a double homicide in a pawn shop where the victim's bodies have been cooked from the inside out. Just before the prime witness to the crime dies in Joe's arms, he leaves Joe with a motel room key and a cryptic message: "The Key opens every door." What Joe soon discovers is that he can use the Key in any pin-tumbler lock ... and the door will open up to a Motel Room that seems to exist in a different dimension. Yet when he turns to exit the Motel Room ... he can go any place in our world where there is a door. Unbeknownst to Joe, the Motel Room used to exist as Room 10 of the Sunshine Motel. Something happened in the room on May 4, 1961, that caused mundane items contained within the Room to become imbued with their own peculiar powers. Now, more than 40 years later, the Objects are feverishly tracked and sought after by collectors and cabals with questionable intent. These ruthless people are now after Joe. When Joe's 8-year-old daughter, Anna (Elle Fanning), disappears in the Room, Joe vows to get her back. To accomplish this, he must enter the mysterious underground world of untrustworthy Object-seekers and collectors. Among them are Howard "The Weasel" Montague (Roger Bart), a former professor turned Object collector who maniacally wields the Pen, which cooks its victims like a microwave; Karl Kreutzfeld (Kevin Pollak), a Godfather-like millionaire and collector with an intense desire to get his hands on the Key; and Jennifer Bloom (Julianna Margulies), a mysterious member of an organization called The Legion. The Legion is a group of ordinary citizens whose lives were ruined in some way or another by the Objects. They have banded together in the belief that they need to rid the world of all the Objects to prevent the mysterious items from being used to harm others. Their mission is often at odds with that of The Order, a cabal whose members believe that the Objects were created by God and should be worshipped. Joe also finds an enigmatic and reluctant ally in this strange new world: a former magician's assistant named Wally Jabrowski (Peter Jacobson), who possesses one of the most obscure Objects, the Bus Ticket. When Wally touches someone with the Ticket, it instantly transports that person to a stop along the highway just outside Gallup, N.M. Every alliance Joe forms is tenuous, as he is now being chased by the very police force he used to work for. With Anna gone and Joe on the run, the Pittsburgh PD has opened an investigation. Even his closest friends in the department — his partner, Lou; medical examiner Martin Ruber (Dennis Christopher); and Det. Lee Bridgewater (April Grace) must search for their friend while trying to help him on the sly. THE LOST ROOM SHOW SYNOPSES NIGHT TWO "The Comb and The Box" In his quest to save Anna, Joe is thrust into the world of the Object-seekers. He is apprehended by Karl Kreutzfeld, who reveals the history of Room 10 and his personal motivation for collecting Objects: he is trying to save his own young son, who suffers from leukemia. Kreutzfeld believes that the key to helping Anna lies with the Collectors, a group of people who discovered the Objects back in the 1960s and were the first to attempt to bring all the Objects back together. The Collectors were said to have located The Prime Object — a much-theorized, potentially mythical Object that many believe can control all the others. Joe uses Jennifer Bloom's connections in the Legion to go in search of the last known original Collector, a woman named Barbara Stritzke. Together Joe and Jennifer learn that Barbara is dead, and that she left all her possessions to her eccentric, troubled nephew, Harold (Ewen Bremner). Among those possessions were the Comb — an Object that can stop time for five seconds — and a stack of Polaroids that seem to be clues to a deeper mystery. After a battle with the Order that nearly costs Harold his life, he realizes that the price of owning an Object is too high to pay. He gives Joe the Comb and the Polaroids and leaves the world of Objects behind. The Polaroids eventually lead Joe on a journey to the source of all of the Objects, and with the aide of Wally and Jennifer he is able to determine the true nature of the Prime Object. THE LOST ROOM SHOW SYNOPSES NIGHT THREE "The Eye and The Prime Object" In final, climactic night of The Lost Room, Joe uses all his resources and alliances in his quest to find the Prime Object and save his daughter. Kreutzfeld, Jennifer, Wally and the Weasel all play a part, with one of them ultimately betraying Joe and setting into motion a chain of events that could cataclysmically end the world as we know it.
