days) and CPI Instructor Renewal (three days)

The Four-Day Instructor Certification Program will allow you to have a CPI instructor on your staff
that will provide you the flexibility to train school personnel whenever it is most convenient for your inservice schedule. The Three-Day Instructor Renewal is the first three days of the CPI Instructor
Program for those individuals that are already trained as CPI instructors but need to update their CPI
instructor certification
For the first two days of the CPI instructor certification training, participants will learn:
 How to identify behaviors that can lead to a crisis;
 Nonverbal techniques for controlling disruptive behavior;
 Successful verbal resolution of a crisis situation;
 Why verbal aggression becomes physical;
 Dealing with staff fear and anxiety;
 Personal Safety Techniques;
 When and how to restrain safely;
 How to safely and effectively control and transport an individual;
 How to develop team intervention strategies;
 Ways to maintain rapport with the acting-out individual;
 Key steps for debriefing after a crisis;
On days three and four of the program, participants learn how to master the intervention techniques they
have learned so they are able to teach them to staff at their schools.
Participants who successfully complete the Four-Day Instructor Certification Program, as well as
Instructors who attend as a three-day renewal or recertification, leave equipped with both the skills and
the resources to train immediately.
Who should attend? Participants attending this training must be endorsed by the superintendent of
schools. Individuals selected by the supervisory union should be carefully considered around the
following characteristics:
Strong professional attitude of empathy and compassion
Knowledge and understanding of best practices in managing challenging behaviors
Physical and verbal competency
Strong presentation skills

Three-Day Instructor Renewal: $1865.00
