Child Trafficking;
Education for All: Students would do research on

Darfur- Save Darfur from Genocide
A local resident, Alan Greenfield, is running an awareness
raising campaign for the Genocide Crisis in Darfur. Even
though Sudam is far away, the human rights concerns there
should concern us here in Needham.

ACTIONS THAT STUDENTS
CAN TAKE
• research the Darfur situation in order to educate
others.
• display green Darfur signs outside your home
• invite others – peers, teachers, neighbors, relatives
to display signs
• prepare presentation to educate others about Darfur
• develop ways to raise awareness about Darfur in
communities outside Needham
• write informed letters (or make calls) to Senators
and Representatives to ask what they are doing about
Darfur, and to voice your opinions (these actions
really do get recorded and noted)
• write letters to local newspapers, Needham and
Boston, urging citizens to become involved and
suggesting what citizens might do
Organization will educate groups of students at the
Equal Exchange facility in West Bridgewater about
the organization. This would include how to
approach a store about fair trade principles and
products such as coffee and hot chocolate. The
students would then choose a store and lobby for the
business to carry the fair trade product. This could
also include educating the public about fair trade
products.
