Essential Functions:

Manages, coaches, develops and reviews performance of engineers and other staff.
Develops infrastructure strategy, operating philosophy and technical basis for asset renewal decisions.
Works closely with System Planning on process integration (Bulk Power Substations).
Responsible for the cost and performance of certain assets on the system including reliability analysis
and trending of system events and monitoring of equipment condition.
Responsible for the development, justification and authorization of the Life Cycle
Plan activities over a multi-year horizon and for the ongoing management.
Responsible for the development and management of a preventive maintenance optimization program
Responsible for the development of preliminary engineering designs and the details, as necessary.
Coordinates and prioritizes Life Cycle Plan work within each service area and across Electric
Operations and participates in the work scheduling process.
Collaborates with other Engineers within Engineering to ensure consistency and teamwork.
Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering
guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations.
Accountable for root-cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions.
Works closely with Investment Planning on project justification and financial rationing.
Responsible for the evaluation and selection of technology and equipment for the system.
Responsible for the development of standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance.
Assumes the role of Project Manager, as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years in utility distribution engineering, including experience in the
substation technical area. Previous supervisory experience a plus.

Ability to perform assigned duties in office or field, indoors or outdoors, in all seasons of the year, and
for extended periods. Must be able to perform their duties under difficult conditions and at all hours
when necessary.
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent certificate,
from a recognized technical school of collegiate grade. This degree, or the equivalent certificate, must
be in a field applicable to some phase of the engineering activities of the Company.
Must have demonstrated, during service in the lower ratings of Engineer, capabilities not normally
developed in less than seven years service in such ratings, for performing the complex and diversified
work activities of this grade with a high degree of proficiency and responsibility. This period of time,
however, shall not be construed as an inflexible work experience requirement.
Must have during his/her service in the lower ratings demonstrated capabilities, interests, and aptitude
for the work of Engineer, Grade 4. Must have demonstrated qualities of leadership and the ability to
plan work for, to coordinate and direct the activities of, and to work with individuals and groups
engaged in engineering and technical activities.
Role and Scope:
Under general supervision, is assigned work and responsibilities requiring a demonstrated high degree of
proficiency in connection with the most specialized and highly responsible engineering activities in agreed
upon areas of the Company. The assignments generally offer latitude for independent action, judgment and
decision and the exercise of considerable delegated responsibility for planning, designing and interpreting
in the field of engineering requiring a broad knowledge of Company practices and policies. Directs and
instructs employees of the same and lower ratings, and others as directed. Under directive supervision,
assists employees of higher rating.
