MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER
Excitement is building as the team has been selected to go to the World Games in
Estonia. The commitment of the athletes has been tremendous and the six have
now been chosen: Georgia Atkins, Amiee Garnett, Mollie Short,
Natalie Woodhouse, Eleanor Evans and Claire Mayo.
Congratulations and the very best of luck to them.
Good luck to all those doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award
over the next two weekends.
MEDIA
The Media Department has won the 2009 Good Schools Guide GCSE Award for Girls taking Media Studies at
GCSE at an English Grammar School. These awards are calculated on the basis of Key Stage 4 results for
the three years 2006, 2007 and 2008 combined, and in particular on the basis of the popularity of each
subject relative to similar schools and of the success that pupils achieve relative to their other examinations.
PRIME MINISTER’S GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP SCHEME
Congratulations to Georgina Howard-Luck in Year 12. Her entry into the Corpus Christi essay competition in
the PPS category gained a 'commended'. Also, we are very proud of Bethany Brandon-Blatch and Amy Yeap
who both made the final shortlist for the Prime Minister's Global Fellowship scheme. Very well done to Amy,
who has been selected to spend six weeks on a cultural immersion trip to India this summer. Both girls did
exceptionally well and we are sure Amy will be a marvellous ambassador during her time there.

GIFTED AND TALENTED
From time to time the Weekly Gazette will include information about Gifted and Talented courses that might
be of interest to your daughter or son. Many of these courses are quite expensive and require the student
find their own way to the venue but offer interesting opportunities if your daughter or son has a passion for a
particular subject or would enjoy a challenge. Further details can be found from the website included with the
information, on the G & T notice board. If you apply for one of these courses, please let me know for our
records. Sometimes subsidies are available. Please see below the dates, times and cost for the next
