Marine Habitat Presentation
This project and presentation is worth 300 points. You and the team members you have
selected are expected to complete this project and present your finding to the marine
biology class. Completion dates and times of your presentation will be scheduled next
week.
Project Guidelines
Your project should include a 40 minute power-point presentation.
Your group should have a title page slide and a slide for each of the following:
1. Describe your habitat. In your answer include a general description of your
habitat, where your habitat in located around the globe, and the major abiotic
characteristics of your habitat. Also include an image of your habitat.
2. Biotic Factors: Algae, Plankton, and Plants. In your answer include a general
description of the algae, plankton, and plants that live in your habitat, where
they are located within your habitat and their interconnections to the other
organisms within your habitat. Also include images of all the algae, plankton,
and plants in your habitat.
3. Biotic Factors: Animals Invertebrates. In your answer include a general
description of all the invertebrates that live in your habitat, where they are
located within your habitat and their interconnections to the other organisms
within your habitat. Also include images of all the invertebrates in your
habitat.
4. Biotic Factors: Animals Vertebrates. In your answer include a general
description of all the vertebrates that live within your habitat, where they are
located within your habitat, and their interconnections to the other organisms
within your habitat. Also include images of all the vertebrates in your habitat.
5. Community Interaction: Competition. In your answer include a general
description of any competition that occurs within your habitat. List the items
that organisms compete over. Include images showing examples of this
interaction.
6. Community Interaction: Symbiosis. In your answer include a general
description of the symbiosis, which organisms are involved, and what type of
symbiosis in occurring. Also include images showing examples of this
interaction.
7. Food Web: In your answer describe the food web in your habitat. Also include
a drawing of the food web in your habitat.
8. Keystone Species: In your answer describe the keystone species in your
habitat. Explain why they are keystone species and what would happen to
your habitat if these species were removed. Also include images of all the
keystone species.
9. Habitat Threats: In your answer describe any and all the possible threats that
your habitat is experiencing. Explain the threat and how it affects your habitat.
Also include images of the threats.
10. Why is your habitat valuable?: In your answer describe all the ways that your
habitat is valuable. Include images showing how we all depend on your
habitat.
