Fresh A.I.R. (Artists in Recovery) Gallery presents Michael Reed: Nothing mystical, just Now
opening on Friday, November 14, 2008 through January 9, 2009. Join us for the artist’s opening
reception Friday, November 14 5:30-7:30 p.m. free and open to the public. Fresh A.I.R. Gallery
is located at 131 N. High St. Columbus, Ohio 43215. 614.744.8110.
Reed lives and works in Columbus, Ohio (43202). His educational background is in computer
science, fine art, and most recently - city planning. Michael is an active member of the
Columbus Arts community having shown work in a variety of venues ranging from galleries to
coffee shops to warehouses supporting his belief that art is for everyone, art should be
everywhere. His paintings are large scale, abstract and expressive. He is also a founding member
of the Couchfire Collective, a group of local artists who organize the community art show Agora.
Michael manages Junctionview Studios, a warehouse of artist studios and performance space in
Grandview, Ohio. Michael is also one of the forces behind the grassroots initiative branding
Columbus as “Indie Art Capital of the World” and City Council officially adopted the slogan in
December of 2007. Michael was recently featured as a person to watch in Alive as a Columbus
resident who is shaping the future of the city.
