St Paul’s Community Development Trust Job Description Job Title: Community Punishment Co-ordinator & Supervisor Salary Scale: Grade 4 Level 1 Job Purpose: To work within the framework of Enhanced Community Punishment to provide a demanding work programme for offenders whom the Courts have sentenced to Community Punishment and have been placed at St. Paul’s. To contribute to the management, running and development of Balsall Heath City Farm. Department: Central & Community Services Hours of work: 35 hours per week Sunday - Thursday 8.45am – 4.15pm Bank holiday working will be required. Duties and responsibilities: 1. In conjunction with the Probation Service to assess the suitability of the offender for appropriate work and provide progress and completion reports. To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the project. 2. To complete accurate work returns and workers record cards. Pass to the Probation Service relevant information including details as to the conduct, quality of work and time keeping of workers, together with any absences and problems encountered but to otherwise treat all information obtained concerning workers with confidentiality. 3. To identify and set up appropriate tasks for workers at St. Paul’s and in the community. To ensure that these tasks are supervised properly and completed satisfactorily. To demonstrate practical skills such as gardening, painting and decorating and basic DIY maintenance. 4. To be responsible for the direct supervision of Community Punishment workers and to make sure that offenders are not left unsupervised. 5. To be responsible for material and tool requirements. To take care of any equipment and ensure that it is kept in clean and safe condition. To report breakages or losses to the Deputy Estate Manager. To maintain an equipment inventory. 6. To be aware of and comply with Health and Safety requirements, including undertaking risk assessments and maintaining Safe Systems of Work records. To ensure that sufficient and appropriate protective clothing is used where personal safety is concerned. 7. To ensure security of relevant premises and take precautions against theft or damage and to ensure the health safety and welfare of staff and visitors. 8. To ensure that no drugs/alcohol are consumed by Community Punishment workers during the hours of supervision. 9. To assist with the opening, closing, management and operation of the Farm. To assist with the feeding, cleaning and welfare requirements of livestock and their houses as necessary. 10. To be responsible for the management of the farm buildings, ensuring health, welfare and safety of animals, staff and visitors. 11. To assist the Deputy Estate Manager in arranging cover for absences. To provide cover for Saturday staff. To be on standby to provide emergency cover/callout for weekend absence on a rota basis. 12. By arrangement with Dual Use Co-ordinator to facilitate the use of the Trust’s buildings and sites by user groups, unlocking and locking as necessary. 13. To participate in the Trust’s performance management scheme. 14. To undertake personal professional development and training as appropriate. 15. To assist with organising and running community events in Balsall Heath as appropriate. 16. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities of the post as agreed with your Line Manager. 17. To be familiar with and uphold the policies and procedures of the Trust especially those relating to Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Child Protection.
