Meet and understand the roles of the members of the radiology team (1.4, 7.9)
Gain greater understanding of the day to day role of the radiologist and how they are involved in the
patient pathway.
Understand the training involved in becoming a radiologist and radiographer (6.1)
Understand the concept of how radiological images are obtained and the indications for and
limitations of different imaging modalities (CT, MRI, X-Rays, Nuclear medicine, ultrasound) (11)
Understands how images are archived and the importance of data protection (4.1)
Understand procedures in place to ensure safe imaging of patients (6.2, 7.1, 7.6)
Understand legislation regarding medical exposure to ionising radiation (IRMER) and radiation
protection (4.3)
Shadow reporting of imaging and link the imaging to clinical conditions and outcomes (7.3, 7.8, 11)
Observe patient being consented for radiological procedures (2.5)
Be involved in interventional procedures and understand how they impact on patient management

Adhere to aseptic technique in interventional procedures (7.7)
Experience the role the radiologist plays in the cancer and non-cancer MDT and management of
