Volunteer Role Description Volunteer role title: Kenwood Events Volunteer Responsible to: General Manager Purpose: We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable people to support the events programme at Kenwood House and particularly need volunteers who are available at weekends or bank holidays. Hours and time frame: Events run throughout the year and we ask volunteers to: Support at least two events per year, for a full day (8 hours) To attend a half-day training session Our first event will be a festival in either June or July. We will hold informal interviews and training sessions in April and May. Location/work space: Kenwood House and Estate Hampstead Lane London NW3 7JR Key Tasks: Supporting the Kenwood team in delivering our public events programme (festivals, concerts, open days, seasonal celebrations and family activity days). Tasks will include: Event organisation Stewarding Signposting and information for visitors Ticket assistance Facilitating parking Mobility assistance Collecting donations Supporting workshops and activities Skills/qualities Our volunteers are key to making our events 1 required: Support/training provided: enjoyable and fun, as well as helping us run events efficiently and safely. Volunteers should: Enjoy communicating with people from all walks of life Have a friendly and approachable manner Be a good team player with a flexible attitude to tasks Have either an interest in or willingness to learn about historic sites and landscapes. Full training will be provided by English Heritage and it will include: Introduction to volunteering for English Heritage at Kenwood House. English Heritage customer service training. Health and safety training. Evaluation and feedback. What English Heritage expects from volunteers: Maintain good working relationships with staff, other volunteers and members of the public. Attend appropriate training and learn about the work of English Heritage Be reliable in attendance Observe organisational policy and procedures Protect English Heritage property from theft, damage or loss, within the limit of their responsibilities To safeguard confidential information about English Heritage and refer any controversial matters relating to the work of English Heritage to their manager. What you can expect from English Heritage: Volunteers may be reimbursed for reasonable travel costs between home and volunteering location. A volunteer pass allowing free access to English Heritage sites is available after completion of four months and the completion of 60 hours of volunteering. A certificate for your personal profile to demonstrate work carried out for English 2 Heritage to show future employers or further education. Volunteers will be supplied with an appropriate English Heritage uniform. Other information: This role may require standing for long periods of time and being outside for the majority of the shift. 3
