Dosage Calculations—Getting Started
Complete all 3 sample examinations
Memorize list of equivalents & abbreviations
Memorize formulas
Watch videotapes # 3 and # 4 in the Espinosa ITV
pharmacology series (in ACC libraries and
televised—refer to Telecourse Info Sheet)
Visit a dosage calculation specialist at either RVS or EVC
learning labs if you are having difficulty with any
types of problems
Attend the group workshop on January 31, 2009.
Work specific types of problems that you may be having
difficulty with in Pharmaceutical Dosage Calculations
Workbook 6th ed. ISBN# HPRS2300 D6.
SUGGESTION: Write down the equivalents and formulas on the scratch paper
provided by the testing center before you start the examination.

Take dosage Examination #1 no later than
February 16, 2009

Review dosage examination #1 and review problems you
had difficulty with (if any) with a dosage
calculation specialist
Review equivalents, abbreviations, and formulas
to ensure accurate recall
Continue to work specific types of problems you may
be having difficulty with in the Pharmaceutical
Dosage Calculations Workbook 5th ed.

There are also sample dosage calculation exams in the
learning lab. Ask a dosage calculation specialist
for copies.
Attend the group workshop on February 21, 2009.
Take dosage Examination #2 no later than
March 2, 2009
Review examination #2 and review problems you
had difficulty with (if any) with a dosage
calculation specialist
Review equivalents, abbreviations, and formulas
to ensure accurate recall
Continue to work sample problems suggested by
dosage calculation specialists
Take dosage examination #3 no later than
March 26, 2009
If you PASS all three dosage examinations with a minimum of 80% or above on
each exam (at least 36 correct answers out of 45 possible answers), you have
completed the dosage calculation examination requirement for this course.
Congratulations! You DO NOT have to take exams # 4 or #5.
If you FAIL all three dosage examinations, you MUST take an incomplete in the
course. This means that you can complete the theory portion of the course
and complete the dosage exams next semester.
If you pass two of the 1st three dosage examinations, consult with your instructor
before you proceed.
If you pass only one of the 1st three dosage examinations, consult with your
instructor before you proceed.
Attend the group workshop on April 4, 2009.
Continue to work individually with a dosage
calculation specialist, if you elect to take dosage
examinations #4 and/or #5

If you pass 3 out of 5 dosage calculation examinations with a minimum of 80% or
above (at least 36 correct answers out of 45 possible answers) on each exam, you
have completed the dosage calculation examination requirement for this course.
If you have not taken an incomplete, and if you DO NOT pass 3 out of 5 dosage
calculation examinations with 80% or above on each exam, you will receive a grade
of F in the course even if you have a passing average in the theory portion of the
course.
PLEASE NOTE
Calculators can be used during ALL of the dosage calculation examinations.
Equivalents, abbreviations, and formulas CANNOT be taken into the testing center.
You must memorize these items. As suggested above, write the equivalents and the
formulas down on the scratch paper provided by the testing center BEFORE you
begin the examination.
IF YOU MISS A DEADLINE, you must take the next examination in the series; i.e.,
if you miss the deadline for exam #1, you must take exam #2; if you miss the
deadline for exam #2, you must take exam #3, etc.
