Environmental Services Wastes Requiring Special Containers Sharps/ Glass: Contaminated Sharps (e.g., Needles, Syringes, Razor Blades, Scalpels, and Scalpel Blades), in addition to other packaging and labeling requirements, must be placed in puncture-proof, screw-top containers (no cardboard boxes, plastic or biohazard bags). Biologically infectious sharps must be rendered noninfectious (see section VII) prior to submittal of the Hazardous Material/Waste Tag. These materials are then handled through the Hazardous Material/Waste program. Non-Contaminated Sharps (e.g., Needles, Syringes, Razor Blades, Scalpels, and Scalpel Blades), must also be packaged as described for contaminated sharps and handled through the Hazardous Material/Waste program.
