Request for Continued Farm-to-School Funding The Sustainable Whatcom Fund Advisory Committee of the Whatcom Community Foundation (WCF) invites you to apply for continued funding for developing farm-to-school capacity. The Committee is interested in helping applicants that were funded in previous grant rounds to take their projects to the next level. This is an opportunity to build upon the lessons and successes of the first year, and ensure sustainability in the years ahead. To receive continued support, you will need to: 1. Demonstrate successful implementation of your pilot project, or explain how your project was modified to meet your objectives. 2. Show that your pilot project has begun to have an impact on one or more of the following outcomes: a. b. c. d. Development of relationships with one or more local food producers Increased capacity for processing and using locally grown products Increased quantity of local healthy food purchases Increased education of staff, students, and parents about the benefits of eating locally produced healthy foods e. Increased sales of school lunches that include local products, thus increasing the economic viability of school meal program. f. Establishment of policies that support farm-to-school activities 3. Explain how renewed funding will lead to further attainment of farm-to-school goals and will provide information to help the school/district understand what will be necessary to sustain farmto-school efforts over time.
