THE ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE - MISSION STATEMENT The Environmental Committee is to consist of the stakeholders of the school environment – students, teachers, parents, staff, facilities personnel and school administrators. The group is to be charged with the research (review/inquiry/investigation) and coordination of environmental initiatives, making recommendations to relevant school decision makers, and facilitating communication among and actions by the whole school community. The group establishes continuity from year to year seeing through short term environmental projects and overseeing the progression of long term projects. We will work towards creating a school where the students will learn that they can make a difference as individuals and as a group while learning a sense of responsibility for their immediate surroundings, the larger community and for the world in which they live. We work to create a healthy environment for students and staff while promoting ecological sustainability by using alternatives to toxic chemicals, pursuing green building and maintenance practices, changing resource consumption patterns, serving nutritious food and teaching students to be stewards of their community.
