Durasteel Preassembled Shelter PART 1 – GENERAL 1.1 Provide all labor, equipment and materials to furnish and install prefabricated portable steel shelter(s) where shown on the drawings. 1.2 Related work Specified Elsewhere. 1.2.1 Electrical service supply and connection. 1.2.2 Site/Foundation work. 1.2.3 Unloading, placement, installation and anchoring. 1.2.4 Plumbing and piping (when required). 1.3 Quality Assurance 1.3.1 Structures shall be the product of a manufacturer with a minimum of 10 yearsdocumented experience in the design and fabrication of portable steel buildings. 1.3.2 The approved manufacturer is Porta-King Building Systems, 4133 Shoreline Drive, Earth City, MO 63045, Ph. 1-800-284-5346, and Fax 1-314-291-2857. 1.3.3 Prefabricated buildings by manufacturers other than the one approved shall submit sufficient data to enable approval to be given. As a minimum: Design drawings and /or calculations, applicable certifications, catalog information, and color samples showing equal range of variety. 1.3.4 Electrical devices factory installed within the prefabricated building shall be UL listed. Factory installed wiring system shall bear UL Classification insignia certifying compliance with the National Electrical Code, 2000 edition (when electrical accessories are required). 1.3.5 Adherence to applicable portions of state and local building codes is the responsibility of the owner. Building manufacturer shall not be responsible for permits, special engineering calculations, or architectural type drawings unless otherwise notified in writing 3-weeks prior to release of bid document. 1.3.6 Design Loads: 50 PSF live load, 30 PSF wind load. 1.4 References 1.4.1 Upon request, the prefabricated building manufacturer shall provide the locations and owners of three (3) similar buildings that have been in service more than three (3) years. This will allow the architect/owner to inspect on site and obtain a statement from the owners on the quality of workmanship (fit and finish). 1.5 Submittals 1.5.1 Upon award of order, manufacturer shall prepare and submit copies of shop drawings as required for each different building required for this project. Drawings shall include elevations, section, floor plan, electric schedule, service entrance locations, and anchor clip detail. 1.5.2 Color charts illustrating available colors and patterns for specified finishes shall be submitted to owner for prompt selections. PART 2 – PRODUCTS 2.1 Product Construction Building shall be of welded steel construction with all intersecting welded connections ground smooth. Overall height to be 93 ½”. 2.1.1 Structural corners and uprights to be 2”x2”x.120 structural ASTM A500 Grade B welded tubing. 2.1.2 Anchor plates to be ½” steel plate, welded to structural uprights. 2.1.3 Layouts to be designed around style “A”, featuring one full-length framed opening on a single long side. 2.1.4 (Option) Layouts to be designed around style “B”, featuring one 36” clear-framed opening on a single long side. 2.1.5 (Option) Layouts to be designed around style “C”, featuring two 36” clear framed openings on a single long side. Durasteel Preassembled Shelter 2.2 Finish All interior and exterior surfaces shall be electrostatically painted with rust inhibitive epoxy primer and shall have a finish coat of air-dry industrial acrylic paint. Building to be painted one color, as selected from standard acrylic finishes. 2.2.1 (Option) Provide total exterior paint, two-tone. 2.3 Windows and Glazing Windows shall have clear anodized aluminum frames. Exterior window sill height to be 16” (with a 12” opening beneath the sill). 2.3.1 Windows to be glazed with 3/16” clear tempered safety glass. 2.3.2 (Option) Windows to be glazed with ¼” tinted tempered safety glass. 2.3.3 (Option) Windows to be glazed with clear insulated tempered safety glass. 2.3.4 (Option) Windows to be glazed with tinted insulated tempered safety glass. 2.3.5 (Option) Windows to be glazed with clear polycarbonate. 2.3.6 (Option) Windows to be glazed with clear acrylic. 2.3.7 (Option) Enclose the lower 12” framed opening with a single panel, constructed from 14ga. galvanized steel, painted to match 2.2 – Finish. 2.4 Bench (Option) Bench to be constructed of aluminum (or painted galvanized steel). Bench to be shipped installed and complete with a 10” deep seat with a vertical backrest. 2.4.1 (Option) Furnish one trash receptacle with cigarette urn. 2.5 Electrical (Option) All electric work shall be in compliance with the National Electrical Code. All electrical components shall bear the UL label. Conduit shall be surface mounted to the walls and/or ceiling. 2.5.1 (Option) Furnish one 115v duplex outlet. 2.5.2 (Option) Light to be fluorescent type, exterior grade for damp conditions, fixture with acrylic lens (tubes to be furnished by others). 2.5.3 (Option) Include “dusk to dawn” photocell. 2.5.4 (Option) Solar panel with battery designed to sufficiently power the specified electrical devices. 2.5.5 (Option) Provide infrared heater (2000w) with timer. 2.5.6 (Option) Furnish 160-cfm exhaust fan to remove stagnant air. 2.6 Exterior Roof Exterior waterproof roof to include roll-formed interlocking pans, fascia trim, and matching gutter fascia. Roof to be installed on building with 3” nominal overhang. 2.6.1 (Option) Provide a standing seam roof measuring 24” tall with standing seams approximately every 12” o/c., constructed of minimum 26 gauge steel material. 2.6.2 (Option) Provide an expanded metal roof measuring 24” tall, constructed of ¾” x #9 flat expanded metal material. 2.6.3 (Option) Provide an acrylic dome roof, tinted. 2.6.4 (Option) Provide an acrylic barreled roof, tinted, with 24” radius. PART 3 – EXECUTION 3.1 General (All preparatory work and installation work shall be performed by site-contractor and shall be performed in accordance with local and/or state codes). 3.1.1 Pour concrete island minimum 4” deep. The island should be a minimum of 12” wider than the roofline dimensions to allow a 6” concrete border on each side of the building roofline. Level the pad and install a bollard at each corner of the building to further protect the building from damage caused by traffic. 3.1.2 Provide 3-wire 240v/110v single-phase service edition (when electrical accessories are required) to the concrete island. Coordinate stub-up location with prefabricated building layout plans. Durasteel Preassembled Shelter 3.1.3 3.1.4 3.1.5 Building to arrive via flatbed truck. The carrier must contact end-user 24-hours prior to delivery to arrange for off-loading. Use either a forklift or overhead crane to off-load the building from the flatbed. If an overhead crane is used, be sure to use “spreader bars” to prevent the building fascia/roof from being damaged by the sling/straps. Square the building on the pad and anchor. Recommended concrete anchor is ½” x 4” galvanized or stainless steel, or comply with local codes – whichever is most stringent. Anchors are provided by site-contractor. Make final electrical connections and clean the work area.
