permission from the British Governor of the Leeward Islands to settle on Vieques.1

He was living in about 1716 on Tortola with a wife, 8 children and 2 enslaved
persons. 3
On 14 November 1717, he and his family, which consisted of his wife and five
children, along with 3 enslaved people were accounted for as living on Tortola.4
Prior to 6 January 1717/1718, he along with several others from Tortola and
Spanish Town petitioned the British King for permission to settle on St. Croix. 5

He was living in about 1716 in Spanish Town with a wife, 8 children and 3
enslaved people.8
On 18 November 1717, he and his family, which consisted of his wife and four
children, along with 8 enslaved people were accounted for as living at Spanish Town.9

from Spanish Town and Tortola petitioned the British King for permission to settle on St.

Samuel Smith was a witness for unknown Hodge, who was married on 4
November 1745 at the plantation of unknown Mardonne [McDonnough] by the Pastor of
the St. Croix Dutch Reformed Church to Susanna Cunningham.15
He was also a witness for James Ash, who was married in 1749 in the St. Croix
Dutch Reformed Church to Margarita Evins.16

Kitzy Maria Smith was born on St. Croix in about 177533/1784 and was baptized
in the Anglican Church. 34
She had a relationship from about 1807 to 1828 with an unknown Ruan, by
whom she had at least four daughters, who were residing with her both in 1841 and in
1846.35

In May 1850, she was living at her own property at 59 Prince’s Street,
Frederiksted, unmarried and supported by keeping a dry goods shop. 48

Lutheran Pastor, on 29 January 1792 to Frederica Heitmann.58 She was the daughter of
