Teacher meets with SST coordinator and
reviews supporting data from Tiers 1 & 2. Be
sure to check on speech therapy and if this is
already in place, include therapist in your
discussions.
If SST is warranted, a letter is sent to parent
regarding their child’s entrance into SST
(include background questionnaire with letter;
vision/hearing should have already been
screened at Tier 2)
Meeting 1 is scheduled
SST coordinator meets with school
psychologist to discuss case and decide on
diagnostic needs
Psychologist tests the child
Speech and OT observe the child if needed
SST coordinator schedules meeting and
invites team members
Share child’s progress with team
members
Have parent sign consent for
diagnostics and hearing/vision
screening (clarify for the parent that this
is only to provide information for our
intervention plan and is not a consent
for a comprehensive special education
evaluation)

If an evaluation is warranted, have
parent sign consent, give them a copy of
parent rights, and the psychologist will
notify special ed office so that federal
time line can be implemented.
