Laya, who submitted the transmittal. Approved, one nay English/Speech Department ENGL102 - Composition I Changed prerequisite to “ENGL101 with a grade of C or better.” This was done to ensure the success of students in ENGL102; some students who pass ENGL101 with a D are not prepared for ENGL102. Effective fall 2005. C. Royal said this will have a negative effect on financial aid students. The chair stated that the change would maintain the integrity of the course. Approved – vote unanimous ENGL106 – Professional Writing Changed alpha to ENGL222 Changed course description Changed objectives (goals remain the same) Changed learning activities and evaluation methods The committee requested that on page three, change the word “enlist” to “utilize.” Approved, one nay 1 Business Department Corrections, Option in Criminal Justice, AS Changed course requirements to bring the option in line with the Criminal Justice program. A question was raised about why, in the General Ed section, “MATH119 or higher” is the requirement, when MATH119 is not accepted at some four-year college (some do accept it as a free elective). Solution: Put an asterisk next to this requirement, *Students planning to transfer to a four-year college are strongly encouraged to take MATH220.
