Procedure Checklist for Authors
This checklist is designed to assist authors in providing procedures that meet the criteria for
consideration by Organic Syntheses. A checked box should be used to indicate that your
procedure conforms to the criteria detailed in the accompanying document "Instructions to
Authors.” A completed checklist should be forwarded along with the procedure at the time
of submission.
Scale of Procedure
The scale of the procedure conforms to criteria established by Organic Syntheses.
Apparatus Description
A detailed description of reaction apparatus is provided.
Reagents
Source and purity is indicated for all starting materials and reagents.
Procedure
The procedure, including temperature, amount of reagents, time, appearance, method for reaction monitoring, is clearly
described.
Reaction Work-up
Detailed procedures for quenching, extracting, and isolating the products are provided.
Purification
Purification methods, including distillation, chromatography, and recrystallization, are described in detail as outlined in the
Instructions to Authors.
Characterization
Physical properties and chromatographic and analytical data are provided to establish the identity, purity, and enantiomeric
purity of the products in accord with the guidelines described in the Instructions to Authors.
Discussion
The discussion and reference sections conform to Organic Syntheses requirements, and include the clear identification of
potential hazards and a clear statement(s) regarding the disposal of hazardous waste.
