Leadership
 Pivotal in helping Genecom Members raise in excess of £10m for knowledge exchange and
commercialisation and in investments for early-stage life-science and biotechnology translational
research including spinning out two other companies – Roslin Cells Ltd and Inocul8 Ltd.
 Fund Manager, the Genecom Orphans Fund, a seed fund to encourage SME-academic engagement
across Scotland
 Managed the transition Phase II to Phase III of the Edinburgh Science Triangle a multi-disciplinary
partnership aimed to promote the city region as a world-class science destination.

 Chief Operating Officer for Cleveland Life Sciences, a new company initiative which took on and
developed the provision of laboratory support of clinical trials following the acquisition of
Ravenscourt Laboratories in 1997. Established a new and profitable division for the company which
enabled it to continue trading until its subsequent dissolution in 2009.

 Professionally trained as a biochemist and have worked previously as a researcher at Guys and St
Thomas’ Hospital.
 Joined the NHS and worked in clinical toxicology managing a therapeutic drug monitoring laboratory.
 Principal scientific interests are in analysis and chromatography and I have 35 peer-reviewed or
invited papers.
