Applications are invited for the position of
TRAINER ONE
The candidate will work Marine Mammal and bird department under the supervision of senior animal care
staff.
The responsibilities will include:
 Support duties including: diet preparation, hygiene maintenance and water quality tests.
 Contribute to successful training and presentation of animals
 Contribute to maintain effective animal care and well-being of animals
 Participate in professional quality shows and presentations.
Requirements for the position are:
 Matric or equivalent.
 Level two ‘Sea World’ certification or equivalent (education or experience)
 Able to work in a team environment.
 An interest in marine mammals.
 Affinity with animals
 Sound communication skills in English.
 Eloquent and able to present in front of a large audience.
 Pass a swim test.
 Physically fit and healthy.
 Good attitude to physical work.
 Be a team player.
 Support and endorse the conservation objectives of SAAMBR.
The following would stand applicants in good stead:
 Proven dedication in the field of animal care
 Relevant tertiary education
 Any relevant education or experience in the field of animal care.
 Any relevant education or experience in public speaking.
