 Central Bancorp was formed in 2006

mortgage.
 In 2008 Central Bancorp acquired the Colorado Springs branch of Van Gilder
Insurance to expand the size and offerings of its affiliate CB Insurance.

Our Story – Historical Perspective
Central Bancorp is the unique mix of an entrepreneurial start up firm and a firm whose
experience is as deep as its roots in the Colorado Springs community.
The story starts when the successful owners of The Corundum Group, a local “family
office” wealth management group, began talking with the owners of Classic Companies, El
Paso County’s largest independent developer and homebuilder, about opening a bank in
Colorado Springs to serve the affluent and business community with a higher-level of
service.
Both groups found it important to be connected to the community. Both groups saw a need
in their community. And both groups shared the vision that their combined companies,
whit a bank, would provide sophisticated services with a local touch.
The official 2006 union was consummated by the joining of a 14-year old wealth
management and trust practice and a mortgage and title insurance operation that had served
Classic homeowners since 1995.
The family expanded and the roots got even deeper when Central Bancorp acquired the
trusted local brand of Van Gilder Insurance, formerly CBS Insurance, which has been in
operation in the Springs, now under four different names, since the 1890s.

assisting individuals, homebuilders, and Realtors in every aspect of the loan process,
from application to closing. As a mortgage banker, the entire loan process is handled
under one roof, and we are funding all loans, leading to a more efficient and certain
process.

chartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Founded to oversee the trust management needs
of The Corundum Group clients, we presently administer trusts with assets in excess of
$300 million. A rarity in the world of wealth management, Corundum Trust Company
works exclusively with affluent individuals to oversee the growth and preservation of
family legacies. By using our specialized capabilities to leverage opportunities offered by
a South Dakota situs, we are able to create wealth management solutions that promise to

CB Insurance offers sophisticated insurance products and services for the protection of
our personal and commercial clientele. Our goal is to work with clients as a trusted

The Central Bancorp Charitable Committee – The employees of Central Bancorp
have formed a charitable committee that donates a portion of corporate profits
separate from our corporate sponsorships. Employees can request grants, and the
charitable committee meets regularly to review and approve these requests. Since
