Project: How Do You Get Organized for success in High School?
Value: 8% of final mark
Outcomes being measured:
Students will demonstrate organizational skills through:



Collectively researching, outlining, and practicing student based organizational skills
Research organizational skills on Inet and create poster presentation
Students will brainstorm organizational skills and then create an evaluation rubric to
assess those skills
Tasks:
In groups of no more than three students:
1) Research organizational skills and create poster presentation that outlines
organizational skills that all students should follow for survival at FLECs.
(50%)
2) Create a rubric based on your organizational skills chart that can assess
any student’s organizational ability. (30%)
3) Collaborative group work (20%)

The details:
Task 1 – The Poster (60%)
You have been presented a collection of organizational skills resources. They
include articles on time management, study habits, and so on. You will:
1. Develop a plan with your group to complete this project in the time
allotted.
2. Divide the labour in your group by sharing the responsibility for research.
Divide and conquer! Each student should share in the research. (Don’t
forget SQ3R!!!!!!!)
3. Once you have collected important information, collaborate with your
group about the organizational skills that will be included in your poster
presentation.
4. After making your choices, plan how you will present it on the bristol
board. You may include: a mind map, a chart, a tree, and so on.
(Inspiration 7.5 may be useful to you on this project.)
5. After the planning, create your poster. Remember the quality of your work
is being evaluated so make it neat!!

Task 2 – The Assessment Rubric (40%)
A rubric is simply a chart used to assess student work and ability with course
material. A rubric can be used in other ways as well – to assess student’s
organizational skills. This is the goal of task two: create an assessment rubric
to assess a student’s organizational skills based on the chart you created
in task one.
A good example of a rubric is your personal management rubric. Another
example is the rubric your teacher will be using to assess your development in
this project. Your teacher can provide other examples for you on request.
