Carbon Cycle Rotation Activity
Draw and Label a diagram of the carbon cycle to show the processes involved in the carbon cycle. Be sure to include the
below processes and forms of carbon:
Forms of Carbon:
 Carbon Dioxide Gas
 Animal Material
 Plant Material
 Dead Organic Material
 Fossil Fuels
 Peat
 Coral reefs – Calcium carbonate (CaCO3)
 Methane (CH4)
Processes of the Carbon Cycle: You should connect the forms of carbon with arrow & You will write the process above the
arrow.
 Photosynthesis
 Respiration - Decomposition via saprotrophs
 Combustion -- (i.e. plant material, burning forest)
 Coral reef formation
 Feeding
 Methane production via Methanogenic bacteria / archeans
 Peat formation
Poster Requirements & Peer -Assessment Rubric -- 12 points total:
 Forms of carbon are accurately labeled and illustrated (1/2 point each = 8 points total )
 Process of carbon movement are accurately labeled above arrows (1/2 point for each process = 4 points total).
 Poster is creative (1 point)
 Poster is colorful (1point)
 Poster is easy to read (1 point)
You will be assessing a peer in your class and they will be assessing you, by filling in the rubric below.
 Cut–out the rubric below and assess one of your peers by filling it out, and have them assess you.
 Stable the rubric that assessed your poster to your poster and turn it in.
