Froggy gets dressed – year 1
1. Before I read the story “Froggy gets dressed” the pupils have to draw flashcards.
 socks, boots, hat, scarf, mittens, trousers, shirt, coat, underwear, long john
2. I read the story to the pupils. They have to show their flashcard when ever the word
turns up.
3. I ask the pupils to tell us what they wear today.
4. How is the weather in the book? Snow.
 I draw weather symbols on the blackboard and the pupils tell their meaning in
mother tongue
5. We practise the new vocabulary:
 It is sunny
 It is cloudy
 It is rainy
 It is windy
 It is rainy
 It is foggy
 It is snowy
 There is no wind
 The temperature is …
6. We fill in the weather observation grid which is hanging in the classroom.
7. Homework: Make your own weather booklet.
The pupils get the booklet from me.
8. The next lesson starts with the homework. The pupils tell how the weather was.
 I use the Past Tense for the first time.  It was sunny. I put on my shoes.
9. Then we observe the weather and fill in the observation grid.
10. Assessment: The pupils get a froggy with the following task:
 Dress your froggy properly. You decide on the weather.
11. Handicraft: we make a paper frog puppet.
12. Song: Incy Wincy Spider
Every morning one pupil will fill in the weather observation grid with the help of the class
teacher.
New vocabulary: sunny, rainy, windy, foggy, snowy, cloudy, temperature, weather
Numbers from 10 onwards, I put on …
Old vocabulary: clothes, coat, mittens … numbers up to 10
Pupils activities: drawing, listening, showing the flash cards, speaking, guessing, cutting,
Gluing, deciding.
Objectives: to learn the connection between weather and clothes.
To learn to speak about weather and to observe it.
Every month the class observes the weather for one week. Till today the pupils have done it
three times and they will do it one more time. All pupils of this class can say how the
weather is  It’s windy/ foggy/ rainy/sunny. No wind.
Some pupils can say the temperature.
All pupils can name one article of clothing, some pupils can name more.
