2. Seat Control/Pedestal/Base Plate with or without Tablet Arm:
a. The support pedestal is constructed of 1-1/2” (38.1mm) X 3 1/2” (88.9mm) heavy 11 gauge
carbon-oval steel tubing. Pedestal shall have a full perimeter electric arc weld to a base plate.
The weld bead shall be no less than ¼” (6.35mm) thick. The 5” (127mm) X 5-3/4” steel base
plate is designed with four (4) holes which accept anchor bolts (not furnished). 9500 series
product will include covered ABS escutcheon cover for base plate.
b. The seat undercarriage bracket utilizes a solid steel support post, which is tapered to fit the
tapered hole of the seat control mechanism. The seat return system inside the pedestal
consists of two cam shaped parts which have continual contact due to the pressure of a
compression spring. The cam allows the chair to automatically return to the desired,
unoccupied position. When weight is applied to the seat, the two cams release from each other
and the chair is allowed to swivel 60° (30° in either direction of center). There are also options
for 90° (45° in each direction) as well as an option for 360° rotation.
c. Paint: All metal parts are to be degreased, phosphatized, and have a powder coat finish.
3. Tablet Arms:
a. Revolvo Tablet Arm: The seat swivel control mechanism is MIG welded to a 14 gauge X 1”
diameter steel tube to which a 1” (25.4mm) X 2” (50.8mm) X 16 gauge rectangular steel arm
rest is attached. The rotating mechanism shall be completely hidden within the armrest tube
and designed to provide for rotation of the tablet arm in both directions. A minimum number of
rotating components shall be located outside of the armrest tube. Rotating design of internal
components shall provide for a detent action to insure the tablet arm seeking folding position
when not in use and exposing an arm rest support. It shall, from the writing position, flip-up and
rotate 180-degrees back (folding position), around the long axis, allowing full seat width access.
Tablet arm mechanism is designed to operate silently to reduce unnecessary classroom
disruption. The arm design shall be such that when in the folded position, it will provide no
obstruction to janitorial service. Overall surface dimensions of tablet arm are 202 square
inches (513.08cm). Available on Meridian and Solstice shells.
b. Fixed Tablet Arm: The tablet arm extension brace is constructed of a 1" (25.4mm) diameter
steel tube and is welded to the seat undercarriage. The tube is bent at a 45-degree angle in
two locations providing a full 90-degree vertical extension at which point it terminates at the
underside of the tablet arm. The extension brace is then bent 90-degrees and is welded to (2)
angle brackets. Angle brackets with extension tube are then fastened to the underside of the
tablet arm. The overall surface dimension of standard size tablet arm is 173 square inches
(439.42cm). The overall surface dimension of oversized table arm is 229 square inches
(581.66cm). (Note: Oversized, Laptop and Jumbo tablet sizes will decrease overall room
seating capacity). Available on Meridian and Solstice shells.
c. Flip Up Tablet Arm: The tablet arm support tubes are constructed of 0.72” x 1.43” x 0.7”
(18.29mm x 36.32mm x 17.78mm) wall oval steel tube. The bottom piece is welded to the
horizontal support tube of the pedestal and connects the tablet arm assembly to the pedestal
via 2 arm locks and L-wires to provide rigidity. The tube rises out from the pedestal at a 55degree angle and the top is bent horizontal to the floor. Welded to the top of the oval support
tube is the tablet arm pivot tube which houses the bearings and related components that allow
the tablet arm to flip up 90 degrees. The mechanism is connected to the tablet with 13 wood
screws to provide strength and durability. The mechanism is further provided with bumpers to
minimize noise and interruptions during use. The overall surface area of standard size tablet
arm is 173 square inches (439.42cm). Overall surface area of oversized table arm is 229
