Dr Winston Rickards was a Foundation Fellow of the College and he played a
seminal role as Foundation Chairman, in the setting up, and in the early development of
the Section (later Faculty) of Child Psychiatry. From 1990 to 1999 he represented the
College on the Victorian Coalition of Mental Health Professionals and facilitated the
formation of Mental Health for the Young and their families (Victoria) and the Australian
Infant, Child Adolescent and Family Mental Health Association. He was Director of the
Department of Psychiatry, subsequently renamed the Department of Psychiatry and
Behavioural Sciences, at the Royal Children’s Hospital from 1955 to 1983.
This collection comprises Box 1 to 13. A further Winston Rickards collection is
