Collage as a Fine Art Medium
Louise Higgs - Instructor
The supplies will depend on what kind of project you are going to create. It is the student’s responsibility to provide their own supplies. Here is a list of ideas, it is not mandatory to purchases all of these items, bring what you have or want to use.

Papers:
Anything goes including: card stock, rice paper, handmade papers, photographs, old mail, hand lettered papers, wallpaper, patterned papers, sandpaper, construction paper, tissue paper, etc., etc.
Found materials and alternative materials:
Lace, fabric, paper dollies, paper napkins, cardboard, maps, old posters, picture postcards, masterworks postcards, wrapping paper, paper bags, shallow buttons, stickers, colored tapes, old paintings, origami paper, tin foil, waxed paper, shallow pieces of wood, pieces of mirror, wires, twines, shells, stones, leaves, grass, flowers, feathers, etc., etc.
Supports:
The surface on which the collage is built is called the Support. The support should be substantial enough to resist buckling and warping and generally should be heavier than the materials that will be glued to it.
Supports include:
Hardboard such as masonite that watercolor paper can be adhered to, cardboard, illustration board, heavy Bristol board, foam board, canvas board, stretched canvas, 300lb watercolor paper
There is much picking and choosing that occurs in collage making. Scissor, papers, glue, embellishments, finishes and a support are the most rudimentary of supplies. The sky is the limit, tho!!!
