Measurable goals that is realistic and achievable.

Use the official and updated application forms.

Make sure your Supervised Agricultural Experience fits under the category and is distinguished into Placement or
Entrepreneurship.

Make sure statements are clear and concise and easy to understand.

DO NOT be vague in your descriptions make sure to tell what you know and be clear.

Proofread with a spelling and grammar check.
Simple Checks:

Spell check and grammar. Have more than one person review your application grammar and spelling will make the difference
between first and second. This is an indication of other problems such as a lack of time provided to the application and
process. Complete sentences and typo corrections are vital.

Make sure your advisors fill out the check sheet before it is sent to the state and national organization for review.

DO NOT use your real social security number instead fill in with zeros.
Photos and Captions:

Use correctly sized, high quality, in focus photographs.

Digital photos are appropriate, but photo paper and a high quality printer are a must.

Use photos that show action and are relevant to the activity. Do not use posed shots.

Include only photo and no additional decorations it must be professional.

Make sure photos are an appropriate size and are no larger than a 4”X 6”.

If jacket is shown make sure complete official dress is shown.

Each caption MUST be fifty words or less.

Proofread captions.

Proofread with a spelling and grammar check.
Make it look good:

Place finished application in the official National FFA Award Application folder.

DO NOT use a three ring binder or other cover, the chance of lost papers is one you don’t want.

Use quality paper to show you care and are proud of your projects. The high quality paper shows your investments.

DO NOT use plastic sleeves.

Thick shiny photo paper should only be used for photo pages not entire application.
