ultrasound imaging to our ACUSON Antares™ ultrasound imaging system from Siemens
Medical Solutions. Our physicians can now access both free-hand 3D and 4D imaging to
accommodate a wider range of clinical applications on all patients, including obstetrics,
abdominal and vascular imaging.
The new ultrasound system with 4D capabilities is particularly useful for imaging the fetal
anatomy during pregnancy. Additionally, we have found it be especially helpful in
maternal fetal medicine because we can use it to facilitate diagnosis of fetal
malformations, such as cranio-facial abnormalities, and to improve communication with
neonatal specialists.
Four dimensional imaging also provides us with a more complete view of the uterus and
breast, and we are using it for 4D needle-guided biopsies and other interventional
procedures.
The fourSight 4D technology features two 4D transducers with MultiHertz™ multiple
frequency imaging for greater sensitivity and imaging bandwidth. In addition, this
advanced technology incorporates a complete set of 3D and 4D imaging features,
including flexible image formats that enable a one-to-one, two-to-one, or four-to-one
display to facilitate surface rendering, simultaneous dynamic acquisition and display of
high-resolution imaging. This is especially helpful for more efficient diagnoses and a
quicker turn-around time for patient reports, as well as overall increased confidence in
all diagnoses.
