PURPOSE

Senior Lecturer and Research Coordinator to develop post-graduate health systems research teaching, coordinate international research collaborations, and develop new research activities.

 Act as the UCT co-ordinator for the Collaboration for Health

Systems Analysis and

Innovation (CHESAI), working closely with colleagues at the

University of the Western Cape and other health policy and systems groups within the

Western Cape

 Work within research teams within the HPS division as appropriate

 Perform other duties as required/assigned

 Manage the UCT-IRHAP office, with some administration, as part of the HPS Division,

(including website management and development, database maintenance, ongoing literature reviews, conference management, communication)

 Fund-raise, and oversee budgets, as primary investigator for IRHAP within the HPS Division (including proposal-writing and networking)

 Fund-raise and oversee budgets for other research and other projects within the portfolio of the HPS Division

(including proposal-writing and networking)

Effective management of staff and activities as agreed with HODiv, with a particular focus on the UCT-IRHAP office

 Supervise staff working within the Division as needed and agreed with HODiv

 Maintain and strengthen HPS division collaborations (at UCT, in South Africa, in Africa and internationally)

 Integrate the IRHAP collaborative network (at UCT, in South Africa, Africa, and internationally) within the HPS division

 Maintain the HPS divisional website and manage other communication work for the division

 Lead collaboration and networking within the

SOPH&FM and UCT around multi-disciplinary work, with a particular focus on social science collaborations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 A PhD in Humanities or Social Sciences

 At least 5 years experience in collaborative team research, including in health systems and development, in Africa and internationally o Have previously been the primary investigator of international research projects, and have experience in sourcing, establishing and completing research grants o Experience in research management, including project management, implementation, team coordination and evaluation o Have exposure to issues relevant to research on religion and health, and relevant African networks

 At least 3 years experience in management and administration in an academic setting

 At least 3 years experience in teaching and assessment of postgraduate students relevant to the field of Health Policy and Systems

 A demonstrated academic publication record

 Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills

 Strong analytical skills

 Advanced computer literacy
