These kilns work in any microwave with a turntable. The MicroKilns reach a maximum firing temperature of approximately 1650 degF (900 degC) in about 5 minutes for the Small size, 8 minutes for the Medium or 15 minutes for the Large . These times are based on an 800 watt microwave oven which seems to work most effectively. Different wattage microwaves take a little longer (for lower wattages) or shorter (for higher wattages) to reach temperature. We have developed a range of small-scale porcelain bisque for use with these kilns. We also have a range of small pre-cut shapes and squares in clear and colored glass which are perfect for fusing in the Microkilns. All our glass is COE 96. A catalog of the glass and porcelain pieces is available. We also supply shelf paper, dichroic glass stringers and various other accessories for your decorating projects. Precious metal clay can also be fired successfully in the MicroKiln. Retail Prices for the MicroKilns are: Small - $105.00, Medium - $139.00 and Large -$305.00. MULTIPENS MultiPens can be used on glass, ceramics and some metals. They have been tried out on many different glasses with various coefficients of expansion (COE). Spectrum, Bullseye, Artista and float (window glass) all have been tested successfully, as well as ceramic and copper. We have found very few limitations. You can place the color between two pieces of glass or on top of a piece of glass. Small-scale ceramic pieces which have already been bisque fired can be decorated with the MultiPens and fired in our MicroKilns. Be careful to only put completely dry pieces into the MicroKiln. The Multipen colors do not adhere particularly well to smooth surfaces. Therefore, when decorating already glazed ceramic pieces try to avoid high-gloss surfaces, only satin or porcelain glazes work well. On metal, the surface needs to be cleaned and roughened. The product firing temperature is from about 1380degF (750degC) up to 1560degF (850degC) or higher. The MultiPens are unleaded, dishwasher safe and can be intermixed to get other colors, i.e. blue and yellow make green. Initially there are 18 colors available in the MultiPen range. Please be aware that there is a safety seal inside the cap of each Multipen which must be removed and the pens must be shaken well before each use. Continuing testing is taking place to see what other products these pens can be used with. Retail Prices for the MultiPens are $9.95 each. They are packaged in 6 packs but may be sold individually.
