Position Description
Position Title:
Truck Driving Program - Instructor
Qualifications/Certification:
1. No certification is required for this position under the state school code.
2. The following qualifications are preferred for this position:
a. Experience in truck driving.
b. Experience in private sector employment related to the truck driving
industry.
c. Teaching experience.
d. Hold a current CDL license.
e. Possess a current DOT physical.
Reports To/Supervised By: 1. Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Education
2. Training Representative Coord of Tractor Trailer Operations
Instructs:
Adult students in the Truck Driving Program.
Responsibilities:
1. Instruct the Sage Corporation competency-based program of study for the
truck driving trade that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of
the students.
2. Instruct students in freight handling, traffic theory, rules and regulations,
equipment inspection, on-the-road operations of a truck and job search skills.
3. Prepare students to take the Commercial Drivers License examination
administered by an LCTI 3rd Party Examiner.
4. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by the Sage Corporation
regulations.
5. Adhere to safety regulations and administer a firm safety program as an ongoing policy consistent with Lehigh Career & Technical Institute, Sage Corp.,
state and federal regulations.
6. Administer disciplinary action of students during the course of instruction.
7. Attend monthly instructor meetings to keep abreast of current curriculum
changes and industry standards.
8. Promote public relations with business, industry and the general public with
regard to the training program.
9. Assist the administration in planning and implementing appropriate training
strategies.

10. Communicate with the Lead Instructor/Coordinator of CDL & HEO/Sage
CDL Director program to keep him/her fully informed as to operational
matters pertaining to the training program.
11. Provide any other services or perform other duties as may be requested by the
Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Education and/or Executive
Director of Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.

Terms of Employment:
This position shall be contingent upon terms of funding. A Conditions of
Employment letter shall document specific terms in regard to salary, benefits and
the length of the work year.

Evaluation:
Performance shall be evaluated by the Lead Instructor/Coordinator of CDL/HEO,
or a designee, of Lehigh Career & Technical Institute, using the Joint Operating
Committee’s approved evaluation instrument.
The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without
