ELECTRONIC FRONTIER FOUNDATION
San Francisco, CA
Intern. Volunteered at a non-profit organization doing pro bono litigation and community
activism in technology, privacy, and intellectual property law. Assisted in formulating and
writing a rebuttal to a MPAA whitepaper. Organized and posted Peer to Peer case
documents for public web-based legal archive. Wrote software to scan RIAA subpoenas and
retrieve identifying information.
CELION NETWORKS, INC.
Dallas, TX
Software Engineer. As first non-founding hire, helped develop software group from two to a
peak of thirty-five people. Was responsible for “auto-tuning” system, for which there was no
prior art. Researched, discussed with in-house physicists, documented, and developed the
component through product release. Also assisted in drafting patent on auto-tuning
component.
SPOKEN LANGUAGE SYSTEMS, MIT Lab for Computer Science
Cambridge, MA
Research Assistant. Researched and developed thesis on allowing end-users to generate
speech recognition grammars and systems through a web interface. Implemented production
system, which is still in development and use.
ATHENA ONLINE CONSULTING, MIT
Cambridge, MA
Consultant. Worked for MIT’s on-line consulting service. Assisted users of MIT’s Athena
Computer System, and developed in-house utilities for use on that system.
IDEMPOTENCE, INC.
Cambridge, MA
Developer. Designed and implemented a new network security-related product. Worked as
part of a three-person team on system goals, architecture, specification, and development on
multiple platforms.
INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER METHODS, MIT

Teaching Assistant. Taught programming in C, development of algorithms, and symbolic
computing.
CONVERSATIONAL CHARACTERS, Fuji Xerox Palo Alto Labs
Palo Alto, CA
Intern/Developer. Worked on a project to create a computer-generated character which
humans can interact with naturally. Wrote a software component to track a person or people
using a single overhead camera, and built a device to remotely track head orientation using a
small electronic compass.
Spent summer of 1994 in community service program in British Virgin Islands, building a
home, working with a deaf/mute resident, and assisting a local farmer.
During college, did at least one day of community service per semester, including work at a
food kitchen, construction of a playground, and providing help at charity functions.
