PAPER ASSIGNMENT

1. As stated in the syllabus, the papers will be “peer-reviewed” and “full text”
and obtained from library searches of reputable journals.
2. Papers must be turned in hardcopy with complete article(s) attached. The
paper will be double-spaced, with 1 inch margins all around, in Times New
Roman 12 point font. Citations of the attached article(s), written in APA
format, will be included with the paper. (Note: If taking course online and
unable to physically turn in the paper, you will need to mail it to arrive by
the due date. Mail address is Dr. Richard Holden, 1100 College St., Box 1637,
Department of Education, Columbus MS 39701.)
3. For ED 498 (undergraduate) students, your papers will be summaries of your
selected article. ED 503 (graduate) students will write a position paper with a
minimum of three articles that support the position.
4. Your paper should relate to your unit instructional topic, if possible.
However, if you are unable to find research articles that pertain to your unit
topic, you may choose one of the following additional suggested topics:
a. The use of electronic presentations (PowerPoint or multimedia) as a
learning tool in the classroom.
b. Inquiry-based learning or use of Essential Questions in learning.
c. The effectiveness of computer use in education as it relates to
academic achievement and/or motivation to learn.
5. Your paper is due on the date indicated on the class web page and
Blackboard calendar. Papers turned in late will be penalized 10 points if one
day late and an additional one point per day after that up to 20 days. If over
20 days late, the paper will receive no credit.

