Death of Abraham Bailey Died, at the family residence on East Market street at 11:30 a.m. June 9th, 1890. Abraham Bailey, aged 70 years, 10 months and 28 days. The subject of this sketch was a resident of this county for the last quarter of century, having resided at South West and for the last nine years in Nappanee. He was united in marriage to Amanda Weaver in Trumbell county, Ohio, fifty years ago this month, who with six children survive to mourn their loss of a kind husband and father – six children having preceded their father to the grave. The deceased had been ill for a long time, having had a severe attack of the la grippe which finally took him in his bed where he lay for some two months – dying from complication of ailments consequent upon old age. He lived a consistent member of the Reform church from his boyhood , and his last words on earth were: “Bless the Lord.” The funeral will occur at the M.E. Church tomorrow, Thursday, at 9 o’clock, Rev. J. S. Cain officiating. The interment in charge of H. F. Banta, will take place at South West. Peace to his ashes. 6/11/1890
