MEET OUR 2010 Children’s Summer Program Camp Staff Linda Canterbury, Camp Director: This is Linda’s eleventh summer supervising the Chester Parks and Recreation Children’s Summer Program Day Camp. She has a BS in Education. Linda previously worked as a Preschool Teacher and has been a Para-educator for 13 years. Linda is certified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Gary Stevens, Arts and Crafts Director: This is Gary’s sixth year with Chester Parks and Recreation. He has a BA in Art and Education and has been a teacher for four years. Gary teaches Art and Mathematics in grades Pre-K through 8. He is certified in Lifeguard Training, Canoeing Instruction, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Danielle Netsch, Programming Director: Danielle is returning for her seventh year with the program. She has a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics and teaching certification in Pre-K through grade 8. She has been a substitute teacher for four years. Danielle is certified in Lifeguard Training, Personal Watercraft Operation, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Danielle is our Swimming Instructor and played Lacrosse and Basketball in high school and Lacrosse in college. Kevin Harris, Co-Programming Director: Kevin has been with us for six years. He has a BS in Business Administration and plans to do graduate work in Education. He is an Eagle Scout, as well as a Boy Scout Leader, and certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Kevin also serves as our Waterfront Director and was on the football, lacrosse, and track teams in high school. Randa Netsch, Medication Supervisor: Randa is returning for her eighth year. She has a BS in Health Promotions and is completing her Medical Assistant certification. She is substitute teacher and Chester Hose Co member. She is certified in Lifeguard Training, Personal Watercraft Operation, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Medication Administration, and as an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor. Randa played high school and college Field Hockey and Lacrosse. Paul James Lewis, Sports Director: PJ is a junior at the University of Rhode Island. This is his fifth year with the program. He is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. PJ is also our Head Lifeguard and played Baseball in high school. James Pash, Assistant Medication Supervisor and Sports Director: James is back for his third year. He is a Pre-Med major at Syracuse University. James is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Additionally, he is our Assistant Head Lifeguard and played high school Baseball and Soccer. Patrick Campbell, Nature Counselor: Patrick is returning for his third year. He is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. He is an Eagle Scout candidate and played high school basketball. Patrick has worked for us throughout the year as a Youth Basketball Coach and Referee. Matthew Jacobson, Counselor: This is Matt’s third year with the program. He is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Matt is an Eagle Scout and beginning his freshman year of college. William Schneider, Counselor: Will is a sophomore Chemistry major at Southern Connecticut State University, where he is on the Ultimate Frisbee team. He is returning for his second year and is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Christine Perry, Counselor: Christine is beginning her first year as a counselor, but has been a dance instructor for us for two years. She has a BFA in Dance Performance and has been teaching dance to children for six years. She is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Marissa Lewis, Counselor: This is Marissa’s first year as a camp counselor, though she was a volunteer counselor before joining the staff. She is returning for her third year as a Swimming Instructor. She is certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Marissa also studies Point, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Lyrical Dancing. Welcome to our new Lifeguards Meghan Saunders and Maggie McCarthy! Both were volunteers in the children’s camp last summer. Meghan assisted with Youth Basketball this year and Maggie assisted with the children’s Lacrosse program. They are certified in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.
