Assignments/Tests in math are to be done in pencil only. All students need a red pen or pencil to make corrections. Assignments that are not legible and neat will not be accepted for credit. Students are to keep track of all assignments and class work in their student planner. Late Work Thomas Jefferson’s late work policy is designed to promote Mastery; students are expected to turn in assignments on time. Long Term projects will lose 10% per day for every day past the due date!! Absences It is the student’s responsibility to seek out missed class work, notes, assignments, quizzes or tests. This information is posted in each teacher’s classroom. Teachers will not ask for missed work nor remind students to make up missed quizzes or tests. If a student is absent on the day a project is due or a test is given, teachers will require the project to be turned in or the test to be made up on the first day the student returns to school. Absent students should call Homework Hotline after 3:30 each day when absent to find out about missed work. The number is 659-3250. Follow the voicemail instructions. Work will only be sent to the office if the student is gone 2 days or more. If a student has an extended absence, please call during team planning time (10:40-11:10) to make arrangements for completing the missed work before or after school. Hall Passes Students are to use the for each day in their planner anytime they leave the wing or use the restroom. Students MUST have this planner with them in order to get permission to leave. Behavior Expectations We are a Fragrance Free School! Be prompt and prepared for class. Follow directions and stay on task. Respect the rights of others. Allow other students to learn. Take care of the building, furniture, and property of others. Take care of yourself. Thomas Jefferson is a fragrance free school. Follow BYOD Inside voices in classrooms and especially in hallways, and walk on the RIGHT side! The teachers on the Matrix team will be following the B. I. S. T. structure of behavior management. Violation of the rules in the student handbook will be dealt with according to the written school policy also found in the handbook. As a team, teachers will deal with individual behavior issues. It is up to the discretion of the team to decide on consequences. Student Schedules Teachers reserve the right to change a student’s core schedule. Any changes to the schedule will be made in the student’s and the team’s best interest. Parents will be notified of any changes. Tutoring will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4pm. Students will need to sign up by the end of literacy the day they plan on staying. You will need to have made arrangements for pick-up prior to that afternoon. Coach Terp will tutor in the mornings by appointment only until after Thanksgiving. Tutoring Team Meetings The Matrix teachers meet daily from 10:20-10:50 a.m. We would encourage parents to call with concerns during this time period. Teachers can also be contacted through e-mail (this method is usually the most efficient.)
