You will learn:
Light source awareness
Paint a border using tape
Paint lightest colors first and blend
Paint shadows
Simple background
1. Draw a mushroom scene onto the paper ( a few different sized mushrooms with
grass, leaves, and maybe a lady bug or a butterfly
2. Draw a few of the mushrooms around the perimeter of the paper. Tape may be
used to have a straight line. (many options to use the tape; two rows of tape and
paint between them; one line of tape and paint on inside of tape, blending to
white of paper; create rectangles with tape and paint inside each, letting each dry
before continuing)
3. Paint border first and let dry (do not paint over the mushrooms, they should be on
top of border (may be single color or mingled colors)
4. Paint a border mushroom overlapping the border
5. Masking fluid may be used for dots on detailed mushrooms (let completely dry
before painting, also let completely dry before rubbing off)
6. Paint mushroom scene by painting grass wet into wet, add leaves after grass dries.
Paint mushrooms with lightest colors first noting sun angle and leaving light
highlights closest to the source. Paint shadows with a wash of cobalt blue to
indicate shadows on grass and on shadow side of mushrooms.
7. Background of scene may remain white or an indication of color for sky, etc.
