BOLAND ATHLETES IN TEAM TO 2011 IAAF WORLD CC CHAMPS
Boland Athletics would like to congratulate Luyanda Qolo from Hangklip AC and William
Kaptein from Robertson AC for their inclusion in the South African teams to the 2011 African
Cross Country Championships in Cape Town on 5-6 March 2011 as well as the team to the
2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships that will take place in Punta Umbria, Spain
on 20 March 2011.
Luyanda and William had to compete in the 2011 Southern Regions Championships in
Zambia on 26 February 2011 to qualify for the final teams to the abovementioned events.
Due to the cancellation of the 2011 Southern Regions Championships Luyanda and William
qualified for the abovementioned teams based on their performances at the 2011 SA Cross
Country trials in Potchefstroom on 22 January 2001.
At the 2011 SA Cross Country trials Luyanda and William stunt South Africa with their
excellent performances at the 2011 SA Cross Country trials. William in particular, finished
first in the junior category 2011 SA Cross Country trials with the athlete in the 2 nd position,
more than 100m behind.
