KALAMALKA ROTARY CLUB DREAM AUCTION President’s Message I would like to personally thank each one of you for supporting the 23rd annual Kalamalka Dream Auction which allows our club, each year, to return tens of thousands of dollars to worthwhile community projects. Your generosity has provided more than $1.5 million dollars in donations since the first Dream Auction in 1985. Many of you will be familiar with some of the major projects including Hospice House, NONA, the Indoor Soccer Facility and the skateboard parks.. You may not be as familiar, however, with many of the smaller projects supported by the club. In the past year funds have been made available to Alexis Park School for a project to provide gym strip for young students unable to afford their own and a donation was made to Vernon Triple AAA Track to help replace equipment lost in the Polson stadium fire. Kal Rotary provided funds to assist the Family Resource Centre to purchase a more efficient photocopier and helped 20 members of the W.L. Seaton Stage Band afford to participate in the MusicFest Canada Competition. We put a new roof on St. Anne’s Church at O’Keefe Ranch, we assisted with the Silver Lake Forestry Camp educational program for Vernon students, we provided two major scholarships for grade 12 graduates entering college or university and we both sent out and hosted a student as part of Rotary’s International Student Exchange program. We also assisted the VJH Auxiliary centennial project with the purchase of a Digital Holter Monitor and we supplied the Vernon Fire Department with a pair of Automatic Electronic Defibrillators to bolster their First Responder program. In total, donations were made to over 15 different projects from funds raised at last year’s Dream Auction. None of this would have been possible without your generous support and the support of over 300 businesses, professionals and individuals who donated nearly a quarter of a million dollars worth of goods and services we’ll auction this evening. I would like to recognize the 93 members of the Kal Rotary Club who dedicate a large portion of their time for three months to canvass for donations and organize the auction, our hardworking emcee, Wayne Penner and our energetic auctioneers, Don Raffan and Keith Dinwoodie. Sincere thanks also are due the Dream Auction Committee under the leadership of Co-chairs, Darryl O’Brian and Penny McDonald. Please enjoy yourselves tonight, meet new people, dine, dance and enthusiastically participate in the auction. Be part of Kal Rotary’s dedication to the 2007 Rotary International Theme, “Rotary Shares.” Sincerely, Michael Tindall, President Kalamalka Rotary 1 SILENT AUCTION Bid sheets will be supplied beside each item.
